The Hong Kong Market
Asia’s most diverse global city, Hong Kong is one of the world’s leading financial and service centers. Its special status as a Special Administrative Region of China gives it unique access to the Mainland and its enormous potential. Beginning as a trading port, Hong Kong became a dependent territory of the United Kingdom in 1842, and remained so until the transfer of its sovereignty to the People's Republic of China in 1997. Along with Macau, Hong Kong is one of two special administrative regions and is not considered as part of Mainland China. Under the "one country, two systems" policy, Hong Kong has a high degree of autonomy, is largely self-governing and maintains a highly capitalist economy. The Special Administrative Region is also listed as the 7th wealthiest country in the world in terms of GDP per capita. Although the population is predominantly Chinese, residents and expatriates of other ethnicities form a small but significant segment of society.

Boyden was founded over 60 years ago, as the pioneer in the executive search industry. The Hong Kong office opened, in 1965, brought to the region our rich heritage as the leading international retained executive search organization. Today, it maintains our commitment to groundbreaking best practices and impeccable integrity. Offices opened in Shanghai in 1993 and in Beijing in 1996 making Boyden one of the oldest established search and consulting firms in China. In 2008 Boyden became the first fully licensed Wholly Foreign Owned Enterprise (WFOE) in search in Shanghai - a notable recognition by the authorities of Boyden's premier status.
In Greater China, our human capital consulting company, Boyden Management Consulting Asia, has also been active for many years. Our main work is for local organisations in both the public and private sectors where we undertake a wide range of projects both large and small.
